Travelling through to Carlisle to find out that the main club field was in too good of condition to play on.
The Zebras found life fairly difficult for long periods on a training pitch. Indeed it was the home side went ahead in the 9th. minute when Andy Glenn Converted a penalty from 30 metres for the Zebras defence straying offside. That lead was short lived and in the14th minute Andrew Bowe was driven over by the pack after the side elected to kick to the corner following another offside decision. They then extended their lead on the half hour mark when scrum half Lee Wordsworth was given enough space to cross the line following a series of drives to the Carlisle line. However just before half time Carlisle scored a try in the corner following a quickly taken tap penalty. The second half was barely two minutes old when Zebras No 8 David Wordsworth scored a third try for the Zebras. The Zebras then scored their bonus point score when Graham Short broke clear from just outside the 22metre line to cross for the 4th try. This time John Chisnall converted and the Zebras led 22pts to 8. As the game slowed in the main due to the conditions the home side exerted pressure on the Zebras line, but the defence held firm even when the Zebras had 2 forwards yellow carded for technical offences. The zebras however still had time and space to send wing Chris McCombe over for a 5thtry and with Chisnall converting the game finished 29 pts to 8 in Workington’s favour
