Against the wind in the first half, the steelers were put under a lot of pressure, however they did not help themselves with some poor decision making and not clearing their line with touchline attemps. On 14minutes Cockermouth scored an unconverted try following a lapse in defence. On 18minutes Cockermouth increased their lead to 8-0 with a penalty. In the last quarter of the half the steelers began to exert some pressure themselves with some good forward play, however were unable to put some points on the board. The second half continued as the first finished with the steelers forwards getting on top. In the absence of Tom Doran, David Wordsworth captained the side and led from the front. Despite a lot of posession the steelers could only manage a penaty however. Against the run of play Cockermouth again breached the steelers defence for a unconverted try making the score 13-3.
