The Steelers finally showed there potential with a rampant victory against a strong Moresby side.

In strong sunshine on the paddock the game started well for the home with some could key possession, dominating the set piece. The breakthrough came after scrum half Sam Carter sniped from the back of the scrum to go over for the games first try, with Jonny Howarth adding the extra 2 points.

For the next 25 minutes the game was in the balance both teams making breaks but some strong defence keeping both sides from scoring, then on 35 minutes young centre Tom Lawson went in at the corner, with some of the Moresby defenders contesting if the ball had been grounded correctly, but from the touchline Howarth’s conversion failed.

After the break the Steelers started where they had left off in the first half, with a minute played Chris Boyd crossed over from a well worked lineout, this time Howarth was successful taking the score to 19-0 to the home side.

Back came Moresby with some positive back play only to knock on with a certain try begging. After the scrum the Steelers wiped a quick ball across the line with winger Marc Hunton going in for his first try of the afternoon, Howarth again converted.

After the restart Moresby were deemed offside at the ruck and Howarth added a penalty. This seemed to demoralise the Moresby players and the home side picked up the pace and Chris Boyd went in for his second try, Howarth adding the conversion. In a late rally Moresby broke the Steelers defence but when their centre ran out of options decided to put in a cross field kick, only to land in the arms of Marc Hunton who ran 80 yards to go in for his second try on 60 minutes.

With 10 minutes of the game remaining Centre Richard Barber went in for interception try, Howarth on the money again with his kick.

From the restart Shaun Murphy picked the loose ball and broke through from a quick ruck the ball was span wide with Richard barber going through a huge gap to get his second of the game, again the sure footed Howarth added the extras, this was to be a 17 point haul for Howarth showing some great goal kicking

At the final whistle it was a great victory for the Steelers Coming out 55-0 winners with the man of the match going to the skipper Tom Doran.
