Depleted by injuries and unavailabilty, the steelers just failed to register a deserved victory

Steelers set off at a good pace and were soon into the Creighton 22 the
ball was moved around for 7/8 minutes but the pressure could not be
converted into points. When the Steelers fumbled the ball close to the line the Creighton stand off hoofed the ball upfield where their winger won the race for the ball and scooped it up and quickly fed the outside centre who had backed the winger up, Johnny Howarth made a crunching tackle but the centre managed to lay it back for the winger to pick up and score an unconverted try.

Things got worse for the Steelers when influential forward David Wordsworth was taken off after 25 minutes due to a back injury
sustained when a driving maul was collapsed, not only was he injured he was also penalised for the collapse.

From the re start steelers pinned Creighton back in their 22 and after 15 minutes of play were rewarded with a penalty on the far right wing which Howarth duly converted. After 30 minutes of play the ball was knocked on by steelers on their own 22. A scrum was awarded and collapsed with the resulting penalty awarded to
Creighton which was converted making the half time score Steelers 3
Creighton 8.

15 minutes into second half Mark Rooke on for K Brodie caught a ball just inside his own half and decided to run it back upfield shrugging one tackle he put a dribble kick through whereby Simon Thomson was illegally tackled out of the game. Steelers opted for a scrum and and moved the ball left, from a resulting ruck Nicky Carter drove over for a try converted by Johhny Howard. 10 - 8 .

For ten minutes Creighton applied pressure resulting in a number of scrums near the Steelers try line however the Steelers defended doggedly to keeep the visitors out. However with 20 minutes remaining, Daniel Blaney was chasing a through ball on his own twenty two metre line when he pulled up with a hamstring injury which resulted in Creighton getting the final try of the game.

Steelers pushed hard in the closing minutes but failed to breach the Creighton line, unfortunately losing 10 points to 13.
