Workington travelled to low moor road for a rearranged league fixture with Wigton and produced a solid effort to beat their opponents 15-6. With the forwards being marshalled by the evergreen Donald Lines and the backs by K. Harper. The Steelers proved worthy winners, in what was a tough contest. The Steelers opened the scoring on 20mins when the deceptively pacy harper broke through the Wigton defense from inside in his own half, and when he passed inside to Chris Davidson he was just halted on the Wigton try line. However Tom Doran was on hand to pick up and crash over the whitewash. Only a Wigton penalty was added to the score before half time as both teams defended well with Harper making two try saving tackles. Shortly after the break the Steelers added to their tally when Bob (Buz) Hodgson barged over following some strong drives by the Steelers forwards. The try was converted by Blaney and the steelers led 12-3. A further penalty by Wigton reduced the lead to 12-6. However the Steelers controlled much of the 2nd half and a penalty by Blaney eased the Steelers home 15-6
