Workington Steelers travelled to Wigton with just fourteen players and were joined by a further two players just seconds before kick off. Despite this Sam Carter put Steelers ahead early in the first half with a penalty. Wigton responded with a converted try but just before half time Steelers captain Jamie Dunn scored a try to allow Steelers to end the half 7 – 8 in front. The second half started with another Sam Carter penalty but Wigton responded by exerting the majority of the second half pressure and just when it looked as though Steelers would leave with an unlikely win Wigton snatched victory with a second converted try.
