Creighton played with the advantage of the wind in the first half and used it well to pin the home team in their own half. Steelers main attacking option in the first period came through the centres and although good ground was often made the opportunity for points was very rare as attacks were having to be mounted from well within home territory. Creighton recorded two first half try’s, one of which was converted, and a penalty, to lead 0 – 15 at the interval. Although this lead did not appear to be beyond Steelers with 40 minutes to play, they could not replicate Creighton’s tactics when having the advantage of the wind and two try’s per side were scored in the second half, all four through strong and illusive individual running.
