However the Workington side did not do themselves justice and were perhaps concentrating too much on which hostelries to stop at on the way home. Although convincing winners in the end, Creighton did not have it all their own way and the Steelers enjoyed a fair share of possession, however unforced errors were the order of the day. At 21-0 at half time the game was really over although the Steelers did apply themselves in the second stanza and Nicky Carter managed a rare feat by crossing the whitewash when the Creighton full back misplaced a pass right into the hands of the lurking Carter who duly strolled over the line. Creighton hit back late in the game with two more tries when the Steelers had been reduced to 13 men following the departure of Jonathan Harkness, Scott (chocco) Campbell and Mark Gullen through injury.
The game over the Steelers enjoyed a leisurely drive back in the community transport bus enjoying some hospitality on the way all arriving home safe and well but worse for wear.
