The game was played in windy conditions which made it hard for both sides to play expansive rugby, but the Steelers adapted to the conditions with relative ease, with the big strong forward pack dominating from the off and setting the platform for the backline to thrive with ball in hand.
From a midfield position the forwards recycled the ball well through numorous phases and the ball was distributed well through hands for the opening score with a well taken try by Martin Armstrong, making the score 5-0.
With the next foray into the Eagles half from a good piece of flowing attack play Kyle brodie latched onto the final pass to score in the corner, again the conversion missed the score now 10-0.
The forwards were now dominating proceedings the score line increased at regular intervals during the half, John McCrickard scoring in the corner followed by Stephen Dawes, who was playing at 8 a position totally alien to him !!!, Sam carter then added a try of his own to add to his final tally of 11 points.
The last try of the half went to BIG BEN Lanigan who powered through 4 would be tacklers to crash under the posts, making the score 41-0 at halftime.
The second half was a different matter for the Steelers as the Eagles brought on their big guns to tighten up their pack, this had the desired the effect as the Eagles made the next 2 scores converting only one making the final score 41-12 to the Steelers.
Stephen Oakes was judged to be man of the match after a strong display on his first appearance of the season.
