FINCHES 3 DIDSBURY TOC H LADIES 35
After conceding 102 points at Southport last week, Workington Finches put up an improved and determined show as they went down 35 - 3 to promotion chasing Didsbury Toc H at The Ellis, with Kirby Neesham scoring a penalty for Workington
The weather was atrocious with gale force wind later joined by lashing rain, but both sides deserve ultimate respect for facing the conditions head on and putting on a show for the hearty souls who were present.
Despite the loss, it was an improved performance for the Finches as they frustrated their opponents at times with stubborn resistance. Captain Sarah Harrington once again leading by example and despite playing out of position on the wing, Amy Brennan consistently tested the opposition with dangerous runs.
Leonie Haile marked her comeback from injury to produce a fearless all display of tough tackling, powerful surges and creative ball handling saw her named player of the match.
